By Ferry
A valid alternative, especially for those who are thinking of traveling by car is to reach Greece by ferry from Italy.
If you want to travel from Italy to Greece you can embark from Venice, Ancona, Bari or Brindisi and travel across the Adriatic Sea to Patras or Igoumenitsa on the Greek west coast or the island of Corfu.
The fastest route to Greece is from Brindisi or Bari to Corfu with a crossing time of only 8 hours. To the Greek mainland the fastest sailing is Bari – Igoumenitsa. The longest crossing is Venice to Igoumenitsa with a duration of 30 hours and 30 minutes, but this means that you can relax and safe on a long overland drive.
